Ann has 25 years experience teaching people how to train their dogs. She is a certified teacher with a master's degree in education. The training techniques include Clicker Training, Dr. Ian Dunbar's Lure/Reward training method and Sirus puppy training. Ann teaches dog and owner how to be each others companion, thus the name companion dogs. As a professional member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT) Ann continues her education, which includes attending APDT workshops and seminars featuring world renowned dog trainers and dog behaviorists. She is committed to training dogs well and to well trained dogs. An extensive library and video collection is available to her clients. The human-canine relationship is so fascinating to Ann that she is highly motivated to learn all she can about it. Ann encourages owners to think, "companion dogs" so that they view their pet as a companion rather than an object. Not everything she does as a trainer is geared towards profit. In many instances, complimentary services, discounts, or bartering is provided for people or dogs with special circumstances. Ann is a true dog advocate and is a volunteer for the Visiting Pet Program. Free lessons to puppy Service Dogs for the handicapped and other special discounts for employees of veterinarians are offered. Dog training is fun for you and your dog! With an enthusiastic attitude and practice you can achieve your ultimate goal of becoming "the-leader-of-the-pack." Dog training is really all about teaching people. Ann's job is to teach the family how to communicate and teach wanted behaviors and provide leadership to their canine companions. During training a special bond based on love, trust, leadership and mutual respect develops between you and your dog. This bond is achieved through a program that utilizes very humane, gentle techniques developed by the Association of Pet Dog Trainers. Each program is designed according to your dog's individual personality. The use of progressive humane training equipment is encouraged so you communicate through patience and understanding instead of aversive attitudes. Your reward will be a companion who is a joy to you as well as others. We guarantee that your dog will look forward to attending class! | |||||||||||||
